Tour Operators
Travelife is an international sustainability certification programme for hotels and accommodations. We work in partnership with tour operators, travel agents and accommodation providers to help protect destinations for the future and increase the positive impacts of the holidays they offer.
This includes supporting local businesses, buying local goods where possible, and protecting the environment and the well-being of people, including their staff, customers and suppliers. By working in partnership with accommodations, tour operators and travel agents around the world, together we are starting to change the way tourism businesses operate and make a significant contribution to sustainable tourism.
Travelife is proud to work together with a wide number of tour operators who are committed to improving the sustainability performance of the hotels they work with. This is helping to create - and you to easily find - more sustainable accommodation options.
The list below shows Travelife partner tour operators that are committed to providing holidays with more sustainable hotels, increasing your choice of accommodations that protect and respect their local environment, the people who work for them and the local communities where they operate.

Midcounties Co-operative Travel offer one of the widest selections of holidays available with independent, unbiased, honest advice, through our network of high street branches, call centre and website. Our aim is to measurably improve knowledge of sustainable tourism products and practices and to support our customers in making more sustainable holiday choices.
We are delighted to work in partnership with the Travel Foundation as it fits so closely with our values of co-operation and supporting local communities. By partnering with the Travel Foundation we are able to do this on a global scale and support communities and environments in destinations that our colleagues, customers and members love to visit.
Founded in 2003, the Travel Foundation is an independent charity working to ensure tourism benefits people and the environment in destinations all around the world. In 2016 the Travel Foundation contributed over £1.2m towards the charitable activities that they support. 72% of the income that enabled them to make these contributions came through the generosity of customers donating amounts as small as £1 when booking holidays.
Midcounties Co-operative Travel is also a key supporter of Just a Drop. Just a Drop are passionate about the impact that clean water and sanitation can make to people's lives and are committed to working towards the end of the water crisis in our lifetime. Their sustainable projects provide support to communities, such as through the construction of hand-dug and drilled wells, pipelines, sand dams, rainwater harvesting systems and hygiene and sanitation programmes and have reached over 1.4 million people in 32 countries since forming in 1998.
At the Midcounties Co-operative Travel, commitment to sustainability is high on our agenda. We endeavour to recycle all of our brochures and, wherever possible, send e-brochures to our customers to help reduce waste even further. As a result of the Midcounties Co-operative as a whole, achieving year-on-year energy savings and increasing recycling to 97% (from 21% in 2009), the Society was awarded the Carbon Trust Standard Award for 2018.
