Make Holidays Greener 2016 is in full swing and more than half of all beach cleans taken place so far, have been organised by Travelife Hotels.
An impressive number of 14 Travelife members have already taken part in this year’s Make Holidays Greener campaign showing their commitment towards saving the environment.
The official month for Make Holidays Greener is July, when most of the campaign activities will take place. The campaign is a call to action led by the ABTA, Travelife and The Travel Foundation to raise awareness for the tourism industry to reduce the amount of litter found on beaches and in the sea.
So far Travelife members and participating hotels have cleaned a distance 8.4KM of beaches, collected 1600KG of rubbish in 164 bags. A total of 525 people including hotel staff, guest adults and children have all taken part.
The Travelife members that have already completed their beach cleans include: SUNRISE Grand Select Crystal Bay Resort (Egypt), Tui Magic Life Africana (Tunisia), Nana Beach Hotel (Greece), Cretan Malia Park Hotel (Greece), Nissi Beach Hotel (Cyprus), Sunwing Kalithea Beach Resort (Greece), Atlantica Caldera Palace (Greece), Sunrise Select Royal Makadi (Egypt), Family Life Marmari Beach by Atlantica (Greece), Sunrise Resorts and Cruises, Hotel Sunwing Fanabe Beach (Spain), Atlantica Hotels and Resorts, The Old Phuket - Karon Beach Resort (Thailand), and Candia Maris Resort (Greece).

By organising a beach clean, hotels are showing that they are going even further to care for the environment and it is a great way to show your guests that you care.”
Travelife members are urged to register their beach clean by the end of July through the Make Holidays Greener website and share their photos on social media using the #MHG2016 hashtag.
